BIG. Formgiving: An Architectural Future History

BIG. Formgiving is a breathtaking, 700-page journey through the architectural philosophy of Bjarke Ingels Group. The book functions as a visionary timeline, tracing the development of our built environment from the dawn of time into the speculative future. By showcasing the studio’s most ambitious projects alongside insightful essays, this volume demonstrates how architecture is not merely about erecting structures, but about giving physical form to our collective dreams and ecological responsibilities.

What makes this volume truly remarkable is its vibrant, graphic-heavy layout and its optimistic approach to global challenges. Taschen’s high-quality production brings BIG’s complex diagrams, detailed renderings, and playful concepts to life with stunning clarity. The narrative moves away from traditional, dry architectural monographs, offering instead a dynamic exploration of sustainability, technology, and human-centric design that feels incredibly inspiring.

This book is an invaluable resource for practicing architects, urban planners, and design students seeking to expand their horizons. However, its accessible visual language and engaging storytelling also make it perfect for futurists and anyone curious about how creative thinking can solve the complex problems of our modern world. It is a bold, beautiful addition to any creative workspace or design library.
